Step 1: Gather everything you need

Step 1 is of course making sure you have all the tools and materials to get the job done. Your first step is getting yourself replacement gutter brackets. Gutters tend to fluctuate in size on a day to day basis due to contraction and expansion (heat will make gutters expand) so a like for like gutter bracket is your best bet.

You’ll also need a safe ladder or scaffolding to get access to your gutters. If using a ladder, we’d recommend using a ladder standoff for extra safety. Make sure you also source some rust-proof screws as well as a drill to secure the brackets into place.

You’ll also want to get some gutter cleaning tools to clean your gutters.

Step 2: Pop your gutters out

In order to get access to your brackets, you’ll need to remove the guttering. You can do this by simply sliding them out.

Step 3: Clean your gutters

Chances are, unclean gutters were the cause of your issues. Whilst you have them on the ground it makes sense to give them a good clean.

Step 4: Remove the broken gutter brackets

The next thing you’ll need to do is remove the broken gutter brackets. If it’s just a singular bracket, you can simply unscrew it. You should already have markings for the new bracket to seamlessly take the old one’s place.

Step 5: Install the new brackets

Using a drill and rust proof screws, drill the new brackets into place.

Step 6: Clip your gutters back into place

Now you’ll need to pop your freshly cleaned gutters back into place. Always make sure you put the back of your gutters in first as that’ll make it much easier to clip them back into place.

Step 7: Perform checks

To make sure your new gutter brackets have gone back into the correct position, perform a simple check. By using a level, you can ensure your gutters have a slight slope towards the down pipe.

There you have it. It’s a relatively simple process but it can be time consuming.
