If you’re installing new gutters, you might be wondering how much slope is needed to ensure they drain rain properly.
After all, if you install them and they’re too flat, you’re going to face some major pooling issues. Alternatively, if you install them and they’re too steep, you could end up overflowing your drains too quickly.
So what’s the sweet spot?
Gutter Slope Guidance
In general, you’ll want to aim for around a quarter of an inch for every 10ft of guttering. This figure can be impacted by how often you experience heavy rain in your area. If this is the case for you, we’d recommend have a slightly higher slope than this so that your guttering doesn’t flood.
What to do if you have a large house
If your house is large and you have guttering that measures over 40ft, it’s recommended that you slope the guttering from the middle towards multiple downpipes.
